louise story cardio

Here's my cardio! I went a little over 90 panels and did it in about an hour so I think next time I'll try to plan better.

...I think the first set of thumbnails can get cut and just go straight from a little tennis ball hitting to the dog introduction faster. But I learned a lot! And it was a nice exercise to refresh my mind after our internship assignment this week. Thanks, Dave!

  1. Okey Louise;
    nice loose work but
    I think you may have committed to an idea that needed more!
    the idea with Story Cardio isn't necessarily to straight ahead the thumbnails but it felt a bit straight ahead and you may have drawn a stream of consciousness kind of path.

    I want you all to think really hard about what you can do with your storytelling and drawing shouldn't take you too long.

    the beginning was a bit confusing yes, and you fell into medium shots like Portlynn. I was lost as to what was happening. I figured there was a tennis player hitting a ball but it took a minute to figure it out.

    then I liked the dog taking the ball that was a nice surprise. but the idea didn't go far with the chase of which I don't think you needed. Maybe as you said, you could get to the dog sooner and then have more story after she realizes that the dog wants to play and we then see that she can get better by playing with him.

    Im making my own story up though. that's not what you showed.

    again, this doesn't have to be perfect but I want you all to really dig deeper with your story ideas that you commit to. really think about it hard and try to bring the unexpected to your work.

    good loose drawings, I like the dog
